Prior to forming the business in 1981 that would evolve into Charter Financial Planning and subsequently Charter Insurance Brokers, Barry held a senior managerial position with, as it was then known, Hambro Life and prior to that had worked for two major insurance companies – Standard Life and Guardian Assurance.

Over the years he has held various volunteer positions in the insurance industry and regulatory bodies. He was awarded the honour of representing in excess of 12,500 members of the Life Insurance Association as its President in 1990/1991. Following this, he was elected as a council member of the independent sector regulator, as it was then known, FIMBRA - Financial Intermediaries Brokers Regulatory Association, one of the forerunners of the current regulatory body, the Financial Services Authority. He has also served as a Committee Member, Chair and Divisional Vice President for MDRT, an international US based organisation representing 25,000 worldwide members.

He is married to Brenda, they have two children Catherine and Steven and his outside interests include golf and sailing.

Bruce became an Insurance Broker in 1968, and joined Charter Insurance Brokers on 1st February 2000. He originally worked for Charter as a Consultant but is now our Sales Manager. Bruce deals with our clients face to face in order that he might give personal advice on their insurances needs.

Bruce has been married to Tulsa for 36 years. As well as his three sons and two daughters, Bruce and Tulsa have five Grandchildren; Barney, Alex, Oliver, Jos and Meg.

When he is not at work or spending time with family, Bruce enjoys playing Golf, reading, playing his guitar and a bit more Golf. Bruce took a break from the office (and from Golf) recently and sailed to Portugal in a ‘Moody 36ft Ketch’!

Angela has been an Insurance Broker since 1984 and joined Charter Insurance Brokers on 13th November 2001. She continues to work as a Broker as well as Administration Manager, Manager to the Account Handling Team and dealing with our Accounts. Angela is primarily responsible for dealing with the Financial Services Authority; Angela directs our team in our endeavours to meet and exceed FSA expectations.

Angela’s main priority is to ensure the good standing of the company within the insurance Industry and in the opinions of our clients. Angela achieved IF1 & IF2 certification in General Insurance/Non-Life Insurance in 2004.

Angela lives with her son, Bruce who is set to be the next Wayne Rooney! In what little spare time she gets, Angela enjoys spending time with Bruce, gardening and a good bottle of wine.

Angela recently arranged a staff night out….In Magaluf!! No small feat; organising 10 adults, their tickets, luggage, passports all the way to Spain and all the way back again the next day! An amazing night out it proved to be, you can see photographic proof of their exploits by clicking on…

Aysha started working at Charter Insurance Brokers on 26th February 2001 as a Claims Controller, but became a Commercial Account Handler in 2005, a position which benefits from her ten years experience in insurance. In 2004 Aysha attained IF1 & IF2 for General Insurance/Non-Life Insurance and makes an invaluable contribution to Client Services team, not least for the fact that she regularly treats the rest of the team to her delicious, home-made Indian nibbles!!

Originally from Lancaster, Aysha lived in Leicester for four years before getting married to Idris and moving up to Preston in 2000. They now have a beautiful son named Zakariah, with whom Aysha likes to spend as much quality time as possible. When she occasionally gets the chance, Aysha also enjoys going to the cinema and reading.

Steve joined Charter in 2006. A graduate and ACII qualified, Steve previously worked for Provincial Insurance and General Accident.

Steve is married to Alison, who is a primary school teacher, and they live near Lancaster. They have one daughter Emma, who takes up much of their spare time. Steve also enjoys playing badminton for a local league team.

Diane joined Charter Insurance Brokers in November 2001 after working in insurance for 22 years, at Commercial Union, which became CGU, which then became as it is now; Norwich Union. Diane’s main responsibility within the Commercial Team is to look after her clients’ interests; overseeing their renewals, claims and re-broking where necessary to ensure that their insurance arrangements continue to be competitive. Diane holds the Certificate of Proficiency & Certificate of Insurance Practice.

Diane lives with her daughter Madison Winter (or Madness as she is more commonly known!) and spends most of her spare time, enjoying her company. Diane also enjoys travelling and gardening and is one of Charter Insurance Brokers’ two ‘Bingo Babes’!

Bev joined Charter Insurance Brokers as an Accounts Assistant after working as an Accounts Manager for five years. Bev is now our Personal Accounts Handler and looks after our clients’ Motor, Travel and Household risks, including High Net Worth policies (where a client’s possessions and home are of above average worth).

Married to Colin for 23 years, Bev has two grown up daughters; Kirsty and Samantha and three gorgeous grandchildren; Jordan and Tyler and Chelsey. Bev spends almost all of her spare time with her family, but when she is not, Bev completes the twosome that is Charter Insurance Brokers’ ‘Bingo Babes’!!

David joined Charter in April 2007 having worked in the insurance industry since 1996 in both Loss Adjusting and Insurance Broking.

David is a graduate of the University of Liverpool and holds ACII and Chartered Insurance Broker designatory status whilst also serving as Education and Charities Secretary on the Blackburn and Burnley Insurance Institute.

In his spare time, David is a keen local football player and avid fan of Newcastle United FC. David lives locally and is married to Christine and has two daughters, Natasha and Henrietta to keep him on his toes.
